Season-smart hockey training
Season-Phase Hockey Training
Season-phase training shifts your hockey programming by the part of the season you are in — off-season, pre-season, in-season, and playoffs — and adjusts your training load to your readiness. The app reads your own season schedule, derives your current phase, and moves the emphasis and volume of your sessions to match it.
How it works
- 1
Tell us your season schedule
Add your season start, season end, and (if you have one) your playoff start. That is all the engine needs to place you on the calendar.
- 2
The engine derives your current phase
From those dates it works out whether you are in off-season, pre-season, in-season, or playoffs today — and whether a taper, peak, or transition window applies.
- 3
Your sessions auto-shift emphasis and volume
Your programmed training adjusts its emphasis and set volume to match the phase, then adapts to your logged readiness. No schedule on file means no seasonal bias is applied.
The season-phase model
These are the actual rules the training engine applies. Each phase sets an emphasis and a change to your set volume; the intensity factor scales the working load. This describes what the engine does — not a promised result.
| Phase | Emphasis | Set volume | Intensity | Progression |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Off-seasonBuild the base. The only phase that biases volume up. | strength | +1 set | held | On |
| Pre-seasonConvert the base into power heading toward the season. | power | no change | held | On |
| In-seasonMaintenance: hold intent, trim a set to stay fresh for games. | maintenance | -1 set | held | On |
| PlayoffsProtect game day. Volume comes down and progression pauses. | power | -2 sets | ×0.85 | Paused |
Modifier windows
Near the edges of a phase the engine applies a modifier that overrides the base bias for that window.
Taper
Last ~2 weeks of pre-season
Eases volume into competition; ramps in so there is no overnight jump.
Emphasis power · -2 sets · intensity ×0.9 · progression paused
Peak
The playoff window
Holds the lightest load to protect game day.
Emphasis power · -2 sets · intensity ×0.85 · progression paused
Transition
First ~2 weeks of off-season
Active recovery and restoration before the next build; no progression.
Emphasis restoration · -2 sets · intensity ×0.7 · progression paused
If your season phase is unknown, no seasonal bias is applied (it stays neutral) — your session is shown exactly as programmed. We would rather apply nothing than guess.
Frequently asked questions
- What is season-phase training?
- It is training that changes with the part of the season you are in. The app recognizes off-season, pre-season, in-season, and playoffs, and shifts the emphasis and volume of your programmed sessions to match the phase you are currently in.
- How does the program change in-season versus off-season?
- Off-season is the only phase that biases volume up, with a strength emphasis to build your base. In-season switches to maintenance — it holds your working intent but trims a set so games stay the priority.
- What happens in the playoffs?
- During the playoff window the engine protects game day: it lowers the working intensity, reduces set volume, and pauses progression so you stay fresh for competition rather than chasing new gains.
- What if I don't know my season phase?
- Then no seasonal bias is applied. If there is no schedule on file the phase is treated as unknown and your session is shown exactly as programmed — we would rather apply nothing than guess.
- Is this based on my own schedule?
- Yes. The engine derives your current phase from the season dates you provide — your season start, season end, and optional playoff start — so the phase reflects your own calendar, not a generic one.
Train with the season, not against it
Add your schedule and let your program move through off-season, pre-season, in-season, and playoffs with you.
